The Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Tripura announced their plan to boycott the rest of the assembly's budget session after accusing Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen of partisanship. This decision was made following the Speaker's choice to accept a privilege motion against the opposition leader, bypassing another significant motion.
Allegations surfaced after Ratan Lal Nath, Parliamentary Affairs Minister, reportedly made derogatory and racist remarks against opposition leader Jitendra Chaudhury. The rejected motion sought to address these remarks, igniting protests from CPI(M) MLAs who accused the Speaker of bias.
In protest, CPI(M) legislators raised slogans and walked out. Opposition leader Chaudhury criticized Speaker Sen for undermining democracy by silencing dissenting voices in the House. With the CPI(M) boycotting the session, other political figures called for intervention to resolve the impasse.
