Stalin Urges Centre to Secure Fishermen's Release

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Tuesday urged the Centre to initiate diplomatic measures to ensure the swift release of state fishermen detained by Sri Lankan authorities.
The appeal follows the arrest of five fishermen from Ramanathapuram and nine others, intensifying worry over the ongoing detainment practices by Sri Lanka. The Chief Minister's letter to Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar highlights the economic and emotional strain on the fishermen's families. Currently, 235 fishing boats and 68 fishermen are in Sri Lankan custody.
Stalin emphasized the urgent need for Jaishankar to take appropriate steps to secure the release of those detained, underscoring the ongoing uncertainty facing the affected families.
