The BJP's Tamil Nadu president, Nainar Nagenthran, has taken a strong stance against the ruling DMK, particularly regarding the contentious Thirupparankundram lamp lighting issue. He accused the DMK of unjustly labeling the situation as becoming akin to Ayodhya. According to Nagenthran, local Muslims have not opposed lamp lighting at the stone pillar, yet the BJP has still faced backlash.

Nagenthran highlighted Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin's claims that the BJP aimed to transform Tamil Nadu into Ayodhya, asserting there was nothing wrong in this comparison. Citing 'Ram Rajya,' a term denoting prosperity, Nagenthran affirmed that the BJP would foster similar progress. The situation intensified when a court permitted the lighting of the lamp on Karthigai Deepam, leading to the detention of BJP members who protested enforcement measures.

Amid criticisms, Nagenthran maintained that opposition from the Muslim community was absent, thus nullifying claims of communal discord. He also addressed developmental concerns, attributing delays in projects like Madurai's Metro Rail to the state's government, while emphasizing the central government's contributions such as the international airport. Nagenthran refuted claims of selective enthusiasm in regional issues, underscoring the party's significant representation in government leadership.
