U.S. to Lead Stabilization Efforts in Gaza
The Trump administration plans to appoint a two-star general to head the International Stabilization Force in Gaza, as per a United Nations resolution. This move aligns with Trump's peace plan, aiming to manage and guide redevelopments in Gaza. Confirmation from the White House and the Pentagon is awaited.
The Trump administration is taking significant steps towards stabilizing Gaza by planning to appoint an American two-star general to command the International Stabilization Force, according to a report from Axios. This decision follows a United Nations resolution adopted on November 17.
The resolution allows the formation of a Board of Peace and collaborating nations to establish a temporary International Stabilization Force in Gaza. U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, revealed this week during a visit to Israel that the U.S. intends to lead the force's command.
While the White House and Pentagon have yet to comment, President Trump indicated that an announcement regarding the leaders on the Gaza Board of Peace would be made next year. The U.S.-drafted resolution describes the Board of Peace as pivotal in funding and overseeing Gaza's redevelopment, in line with Trump's peace initiative.
