Civic polls in Dhule, Maharashtra, turned violent over the past 48 hours, with reports of property damage and election disruptions. Tensions flared as opposition groups attacked a local politician's home and compromised the voting process.
The residence of Shiv Sena district leader Manoj More in Deopur was the target of a mob attack concerning a candidacy withdrawal. The altercation, involving stone pelting and vehicle damage, stemmed from a dispute with BJP's Vilas Shinde.
Amid these tensions, Thursday morning saw a scuffle over EVM damage in a polling booth at ward 18. The election process stalled for an hour but resumed under heavy police surveillance. Maharashtra's municipal corporation polls continued, with votes set for counting on Friday.
