Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a fierce criticism of the TMC government in West Bengal, alleging that large-scale infiltration has significantly altered the state's demography and led to riots in districts such as Malda and Murshidabad. Modi accused the ruling party of supporting this infiltration through a 'patronage and syndicate raj' system.
Addressing concerns over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, Modi sought to reassure refugees like the Matuas, who migrated to India following religious persecution. He stressed that infiltration poses a serious challenge to Bengal and called for the removal of illegal migrants, a move paralleled by prosperous countries globally.
Modi linked recent violence in the state to infiltration, alleging that the TMC's syndicate system facilitates the settlement of these individuals, leading to demographic changes. Asserting the need for good governance, Modi highlighted the BJP-led states surrounding Bengal as models to emulate, promising an end to the 'hooliganism' and 'politics of threats' practiced by the TMC.
