Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has openly condemned the Samajwadi Party and Congress for their role in blocking the women's reservation bill during a recent assembly session. The Uttar Pradesh government introduced a censure motion against opposition parties, alleging they thwarted legislation aimed at granting 33% reservation for women in the legislatures.
Adityanath heavily criticized opposition parties, including key members of the INDIA bloc, for celebrating the defeat of the Constitution Amendment Bill, which failed to secure the necessary two-thirds majority in the Lok Sabha on April 17. He questioned their commitment to women's rights, encouraging stronger condemnation of those opposing the bill.
The Chief Minister emphasized Uttar Pradesh's progress toward women's empowerment over the past nine years, citing a decline in crimes against women and increased female workforce participation. He reproached past actions of the opposing parties, asserting that these factions have hindered progress and regression in women's development across the nation.
