At a landmark summit in Pyongyang, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Chinese President Xi Jinping have agreed to strengthen cooperation in areas such as politics, economy, and culture. This meeting marks a significant step forward in their diplomatic relations, as reported by North Korea's state media.
During his first visit to North Korea in seven years, Xi Jinping expressed his commitment to advancing these ties. Kim Jong Un reaffirmed his support for the 'One China principle,' a stance China holds regarding Taiwan. Analysts, however, observed differences in the priorities outlined by the respective official summaries of the visit.
While China's Xinhua agency detailed proposals for high-level exchanges and trade, North Korea's KCNA portrayed the summit as a meeting of equals and highlighted mutual respect and solidarity. The visit also included cultural events to celebrate the enduring friendship between the two nations.
