Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has criticized former governments for their lack of focus on urban development. Speaking at a rally in Paithan, he emphasized the inadequacies in past policies, which he claims have led to issues like encroachments and insufficient infrastructure in cities.
Fadnavis highlighted how 65% of the country's GDP is generated from urban areas, underscoring the need for balanced development. Initiatives by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, such as Smart City, AMRUT, and Swachh Bharat Shahri Mission, aim to address these urban challenges and bridge the gap between rural and urban development.
These federal schemes are designed to tackle pressing city issues, with a promise of 2,000 houses under the Awas Yojana in Paithan and plans for flood mitigation. Fadnavis assured that Maharashtra received a substantial allocation of Rs 50,000 crore to expedite these urban projects.
