South Korea edged out China in women's team archery to secure its 10th consecutive gold medal, thanks to a dramatic shoot-off concluded with the aid of a magnifying glass.
The final match saw a tie in regulation time, leading to a nail-biting shoot-off. Initially, it seemed the scores were tied once again, but an official's close examination determined Jeon Hun-young and Lim Si-hyeon had scored 10 instead of 9. This gave South Korea a 29-27 victory in the shoot-off and a 5-4 overall win.
Jeon Hun-young commented, "At the moment of the shoot-off, we tried not to think too much. As we'd prepared before, we were able to do it just as we prepared." China's Yang Xiaolei acknowledged the high stakes of the Olympic Games, noting that forcing the shoot-off was already a significant achievement for their team. Mexico claimed the bronze medal after defeating the Netherlands.
