Football Fashion Forward: Iqra Ismail's Tracksuit Triumph
Former Somalia captain Iqra Ismail, who was barred from a match for wearing tracksuit bottoms, will resume playing after successful talks with the FA. Ismail has been playing in the Greater London Women's Football League for five years. The FA now affirms players can wear attire that aligns with their religious beliefs.
In a significant move breaking barriers in women's sports attire, former Somalia captain Iqra Ismail is set to return to the pitch wearing tracksuit bottoms. This development follows her recent barring from a match for not wearing shorts.
Ismail, who has competently represented the Greater London Women's Football League (GLWFL) for five years, shared her experience on Instagram, garnering widespread support from the football community.
The Football Association (FA) has since clarified its stance, allowing players to wear clothing in accordance with their religious beliefs. As a result, Ismail will resume playing for United Dragons, donning her preferred attire this weekend.
