ICC Dismisses Bangladesh's Request to Relocate T20 World Cup Matches
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has denied Bangladesh's request to move their T20 World Cup matches from India to Sri Lanka due to safety concerns. The ICC, after thorough security assessments, found no credible threat, deeming a schedule change unfeasible so close to the tournament.
The International Cricket Council has dismissed Bangladesh's appeal to relocate its matches at next month's T20 World Cup from India to Sri Lanka. Concerns over political tensions between India and Bangladesh were cited as the reason.
Following a board meeting, the ICC stated that comprehensive security assessments, including independent reviews, revealed no tangible threats to Bangladesh's players, media, officials, or fans at any of the tournament venues in India.
The ICC emphasized that it was impractical to alter the tournament schedule at such a late stage. Making changes without substantive security risks could set a precedent that threatens the integrity of future ICC events.
