The Indian Golf Union's Director General, Maj Gen (Retd) Bibhuti Bhushan, on Thursday, criticized the Indian Olympic Association for creating confusion in player selections for the upcoming Asian Games.
Bhushan emphasized that the IGU, being the sole recognized national body, had already submitted names for the tournament. Underlining turmoil post-separate December 2024 elections, Bhushan stressed that IGU has the Union Sports ministry and IGF recognition, despite competing claims from other office-bearers.
Highlighting IGU's legitimacy, Bhushan said the government and courts back them, and funding for players comes through the ministry. He voiced concerns over IOA's engagement with an unrecognized body, emphasizing IGU's rightful authority over golf governance in India.
