Inside the Salvadoran Mega-Prison: A Controversial CBS 60 Minutes Report Airs
CBS News is set to broadcast a previously postponed '60 Minutes' report on El Salvador's CECOT mega-prison. The feature investigates allegations of harsh conditions faced by Venezuelan migrants deported by the U.S. The segment is spearheaded by correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi and includes interviews with former detainees.
CBS News will finally air the controversial '60 Minutes' segment on El Salvador's CECOT, a massive prison housing Venezuelan migrants deported from the U.S., on Sunday night. The network had delayed the report, originally set for December, to allow for further reporting.
The episode, spotlighting accusations of brutal treatment inside CECOT, has ignited significant human rights concerns. Narrated by Sharyn Alfonsi, it includes narratives from former detainees who recount their torturous experiences.
CBS reaffirmed its commitment to broadcast the story when it was complete, issuing a statement on Sunday. The episode briefly leaked on Global TV's app in December and coincides with changes implemented by new CBS News leader, Bari Weiss.
