The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) announced that starting January, the National Statistics Office (NSO) will launch three major surveys. These initiatives are aimed at honing in on social consumption pertaining to health, telecom and ICT skills, and education.
The National Sample Survey (NSS) 80th round will focus on social consumption-health, stretching from January to December 2025. A Comprehensive Modular Survey will scrutinize telecom and ICT skills from January to March, followed by an education survey extending from April to June. Additional surveys include the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) and the Annual Survey on Unincorporated Enterprises (ASUSE), both running throughout 2025.
These surveys aim to provide district-level, monthly, and quarterly estimates of key indicators nationwide. The NSO will use scientifically designed sample methodologies, with trained officials collecting data via tablets equipped with the advanced e-SIGMA software.
