DGCA Launches Nationwide Inspections Amid IndiGo Disruptions

In response to widespread disruptions in IndiGo operations, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is conducting on-site inspections at 11 domestic airports. The initiative, announced in an official order on Wednesday, aims to assess safety protocols and operational preparedness.

The airports under scrutiny include Nagpur, Jaipur, Bhopal, Surat, Tirupati, and several others. DGCA officers are expected to submit comprehensive reports on operational and safety aspects within 24 hours of their visits. The inspections will evaluate flight cancellations, delays, passenger facilitation measures, and airline responsiveness.

This comes as a nationwide outcry has emerged over IndiGo's cancellations due to crew shortages. Additionally, the Delhi High Court has questioned the government for its inaction, highlighting the impact on passengers and the economy. A Public Interest Litigation seeks a judicial inquiry into the crisis.
