The Delhi government has taken a decisive step to curb rising pollution levels by banning the entry of non-BS VI vehicles registered outside the city starting this Thursday. The enforcement of the ban will be overseen by the Delhi Traffic Police and transport department, with teams positioned at key border points and petrol pumps.

Officials reported that 78 to 80 teams from the Transport Department are being deployed at strategic locations, including Kundi, Rajokri, Tikri, Aya Nagar, and other vital border areas. Vehicles failing to present a valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC) will be barred from refueling at city petrol stations.

Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh emphasized that this measure is part of the government's efforts to enforce GRAP 3 and 4 regulations. Automatic number plate recognition systems and ground inspections will verify vehicles' PUCC status. Stricter monitoring will be enforced at Delhi-Haryana and Delhi-Uttar Pradesh checkpoints. Violators will face immediate action.
