SCO Must Evolve: India Calls for Zero Tolerance on Terrorism

At a recent Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) assembly, India emphasized the necessity for a steadfast stance against terrorism, urging a global policy of zero tolerance. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar conveyed that no form of violence should be excused or ignored.
Jaishankar expressed that the SCO should adapt to the global landscape by embracing an expanded agenda and reforming its methods. Evolving to accommodate contemporary changes is crucial to addressing threats like terrorism, separatism, and extremism.
While underscoring economic challenges such as supply and demand imbalances, Jaishankar called for fair trade practices. He highlighted India's efforts to bolster cultural ties within the SCO framework, urging increased people-to-people exchanges to strengthen relationships in the influential economic bloc.
