The 28th edition of the 'Divya Kala Mela' was inaugurated at Kartavya Path, providing a platform for artisans and entrepreneurs with disabilities from across India. This nine-day event aims to showcase the creative talents of persons with disabilities, offering them livelihood opportunities and increased visibility in the arts and crafts sector.
Notable attendees included Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Virendra Kumar, who lauded the contributions of persons with disabilities. They emphasized the significance of inclusion and empowerment in societal growth, highlighting the government's dedication through initiatives like distributing assistive devices to over 32 lakh individuals since 2014.
Organized by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and the NDFDC, the mela features a range of products from diverse regions, promoting economic self-reliance. The event has historically generated substantial business for disabled artisans, and this year aims for even greater public engagement and sales.
