The Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) gas project, led by BP and partners, has achieved a significant milestone with its first gas output from an offshore field located between Senegal and Mauritania, as announced by the energy ministries of the two countries.
This floating facility, straddling the maritime border, is projected to produce 2.3 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas annually during its initial phase.
The opening of the first well signals the start of gas commercialization, marking the beginning of Senegal's venture into the LNG sector, the ministries revealed. BP and Kosmo Energy are spearheading this flagship development.
