Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressed concerns on Friday regarding the delay in the Pachpadra oil refinery project, calling on the state government to clarify the timeline for its operations.
Gehlot welcomed the initiative to allot plots to investors in the proposed petro zone surrounding the refinery. However, he emphasized that the essential issue of the operation start date remains unanswered.
Pointing out discrepancies, Gehlot noted that officials assured him the production would commence by December 31, 2024, but the BJP government later stated operations would begin by August 2025. He further highlighted cost overruns in the project, initially estimated at Rs 38,000 crore, now reportedly exceeding Rs 1 lakh crore.
