International interest in India's indigenous defense sector has surged following the success demonstrated in Operation Sindoor, according to Union Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh. Speaking in Dogri at a public event in Udhampur, Singh attributed the increased global demand to the impressive performance of India’s defense systems, particularly the Brahmos missile.
India’s defense production has witnessed a dramatic 174% increase since 2014, with total production reaching 1.5 lakh crore rupees and exports comprising 23,000 crore rupees to countries like Indonesia and Vietnam. Singh emphasized that the effectiveness shown in Operation Sindoor convinced the global community of the quality and precision of India's weaponry, drawing a stark contrast with the country's past reliance on foreign imports, evident during the 1962 Indo-China conflict.
Launching Operation Sindoor in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, India targeted terror infrastructures in Pakistan, marking a significant retaliatory stance. Besides defense achievements, Singh noted infrastructure advancements in the Udhampur-Kathua-Doda constituency, including educational facilities, a regional passport office, and transportation upgrades. On a broader scale, the minister praised 12 years of the Modi government for transforming India into an aspirational economy, poised to expand its space economy to $45 billion by 2047, reflecting a shift towards self-reliance and innovation.
