India Condemns Pakistan's Alleged Misinformation Tactics on Jammu and Kashmir Unrest
India's Ministry of External Affairs criticizes Pakistan for allegedly spreading fake news regarding unrest in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, accusing it of deflecting attention from human rights abuses. Allegations of severe crackdowns by Pakistani forces on civilians protesting against economic and governance issues have sparked international concern.
India has launched a verbal offensive against Pakistan, accusing Islamabad of disseminating disinformation to overshadow systemic failures and human rights violations in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). This condemnation was articulated by Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal during a regular media briefing on Tuesday.
Jaiswal, addressing a query from ANI, stated, 'We observe a recurring pattern of fake news and videos originating from Pakistan as a desperate tactic to conceal its own deficiencies and divert focus from its transgressions.' He expressed serious concerns about the harsh crackdown by Pakistani security forces on civilians protesting against economic strife and deprivation of fundamental rights in the region.
Highlighting reports of police brutality in the conflict-ridden territory, Jaiswal noted incidents of civilian deaths and injuries amidst calls for global accountability. The remarks follow widespread protests in PoJK, where inhabitants demand improvements in governance and economic conditions. Rising inflation, exorbitant electricity prices, and the scarcity of essential goods have fueled these demonstrations, prompting the Pakistani government to deploy paramilitary forces, resulting in violent confrontations and casualties.
