International Outcry: Crackdown in PoJK Triggers Calls for Justice

Protestors gathered at the UN office demanding justice, as Amnesty International condemned excessive force and suppression of dissent, urging action to protect human rights in the region.

Human rights activists have voiced strong condemnation against the Pakistan military's recent operations targeting civilians in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). Demonstrators, led by Association of Terror Victims in Kashmir Chairperson Tasleema Akhter, rallied outside the United Nations office, urging international accountability and demanding justice.

Akhter described the protests as peaceful before being met with what she characterized as indiscriminate gunfire by the Pakistan Army under Asim Munir's orders. She announced the group's intention to submit a memorandum to the UN, highlighting the dire need for intervention and justice for the people of PoJK.

Thousands from the region have continued to raise their voices against Pakistan's policies, particularly emphasizing civil rights and accountability. Amnesty International expressed serious concerns over alleged violations, criticizing Pakistan's decision to label the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee as a banned organization, undermining political activism.
