Swift Evacuation Efforts Underway for Crew of Fire-Stricken MT Jalveer in Oman

The Embassy of India in Oman has confirmed that evacuation efforts for the crew members of the MT Jalveer, currently docked at Oman's Shinas port, are underway. This follows the detection of smoke due to a fire in the vessel's engine room.
With the assistance of the Royal Navy of Oman, the evacuation of all 20 Indian sailors onboard is expected to conclude shortly. The Embassy emphasized ongoing coordination with local authorities to ensure the crew's safety.
Marinetraffic reports that the MT Jalveer, an Asphalt/Bitumen Tanker sailing under the Guinean-Bissau flag, measures 119.95 meters in length and 16.84 meters in width. This incident follows a recent fire reported in Sohar, highlighting the risks faced by maritime operations in the region.
