Pakistan Bans Hafiz Gul Bahadur and Majeed Brigade Groups Over Terrorism Links

Pakistan on Wednesday officially designated the Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group and Majeed Brigade Group as terrorist organizations, citing their involvement in numerous attacks on security forces.

The Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group, a prominent Taliban faction, and the Majeed Brigade, a Baloch nationalist group, have been implicated in various terrorist activities targeting security forces in recent months.

According to the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA), these groups were observed for two years before being banned, following the discovery of substantial evidence proving their terrorist activities.

Hafiz Gul Bahadur, suspected to be hidden in Afghanistan, has been orchestrating attacks from across the border. The inclusion of these groups brings the total number of banned organizations to 81.

Notably, the country's proscribed list, maintained under the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997, includes other notorious entities like Lashkar-e-Tayyiba and Jaish-e-Muhammad among others.
