In a significant bust, police on Thursday discovered 60 kg of charas worth Rs 30 crore on the seashore near Onjal village, Navsari district, Gujarat. An official reported that this was the fourth recovery of unclaimed narcotics in South Gujarat within the past week.
Earlier seizures included charas packets found along the coastlines of Surat and Valsad. Following these incidents, local police set up several teams to conduct thorough scans of Navsari's coastline. Superintendent of Police Sushil Agarwal revealed that the operation yielded 50 unclaimed packets, each containing 1,200 grams of charas, sealed with five layers of plastic and cloth, marked by Urdu and Afghan texts.
Investigations indicate these packets might have drifted ashore after being discarded by drug smugglers. This pattern of narcotics being found along Gujarat's shores has been observed frequently over the past two years, often linked to smuggling operations aiming to evade law enforcement.
