In a significant crackdown, customs officials at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport seized narcotics valued at Rs 4 crore from a passenger arriving from Bangkok, announced officials on Monday.
The operation unfolded on December 6 when a routine check led to the discovery of narcotics in the passenger's trolley bag, which contained nine polythene pouches with a moist green substance identified as marijuana, weighing 4.08 kilograms.
The passenger is now facing charges under the rigorous Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, which stipulates penalties of up to 10 years' imprisonment and a fine up to Rs 1 lakh.
