Diminishing Shadows: Naxal Influence Wanes in India
Over the past decade, the influence of Naxalism in India has decreased significantly. The Indian government reports a reduction in Naxal-effected states from 10 to 5, and districts impacted by Left Wing Extremism from 126 to 11. The past decade has marked a notable reduction in the influence of Naxalism across India, the Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday. According to Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, the number of states affected by Naxal-related activities has decreased from 10 to just 5.
Further illustrating the decline, the number of districts impacted by Left Wing Extremism has significantly dropped from 126 to 11. This information came in response to a supplementary question during Question Hour.
Rai also highlighted the government's efforts to support this decline by enhancing security measures and developing infrastructure. Initiatives include the establishment of schools, ITIs, Kaushal Vikas Kendras, banks, and ATMs in affected areas to foster overall growth and stability.
