The Election Commission announced an extension of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) timelines for updating electoral rolls in six states and Union territories, following appeals from their chief electoral officers.
The revised schedule affects Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Uttar Pradesh, with new enumeration and publication dates set.
Efforts are being made to ensure all eligible voters are registered using both online and offline methods, ahead of the final electoral roll publication slated for February next year.
