Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann took a jab at the central government on Tuesday, criticizing their plans to substitute the 20-year-old MGNREGA with the new VB-G RAM G Bill. He equated the bill to ongoing superficial changes, such as renaming cities and railway stations.

During a press conference, Mann emphasized that substantial changes come from action, not merely changing names. Highlighting the need for employment assurance under the bill, Mann expressed concerns over the underlying intention, juxtaposing it against the need for actual job creation.

Addressing law and order, Mann assured the people of Punjab of strict measures against crime. He alluded to historical political patronages aiding gangsters—a legacy he's determined to dismantle for lasting peace, while also setting elaborate preparations for upcoming religious events.
