Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, Chhattisgarh has made significant strides in delivering clean drinking water to rural households, according to Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao. The state boasts over 40 lakh tap connections, benefitting more than 32 lakh homes, marking a historic transformation in water availability.
At a press conference in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar, Sao emphasized the exponential growth from merely 3,19,741 connections before the initiative to millions today, demonstrating the BJP government's commitment over the past two years. This progress aims to achieve the 'Har Ghar Jal' status through safe and sustainable water practices.
With 6,572 villages achieving full coverage and 4,544 being certified as 'Har Ghar Jal Grams', the initiative underscores effective governance. Efforts include the implementation of stringent quality controls and accountability, backed by substantial fines and legal actions against defaulting contractors, ensuring high standards in execution.
