Security measures across Jammu are reaching peak intensity as Republic Day approaches. On Wednesday, security forces conducted house-to-house searches targeting areas densely populated by Rohingya Muslims. Additional military troops were dispatched to the higher elevations of Kishtwar following an encounter that pushed insurgents into nearby forests.

Officials confirm that local law enforcement, together with Central Reserve Police Force personnel, are focusing their search efforts on the Bhatindi-Narwal-Rajiv Nagar outskirts of Jammu. The area is known for its significant settlements of Rohingya and Bangladeshi Muslims. This move is part of a comprehensive security plan designed to thwart any potential terrorist disruptions during Republic Day celebrations.

The operation, called 'Operation Trashi-I', began on Sunday, resulting in a skirmish that left one paratrooper dead and multiple soldiers injured. Despite an extensive search, there has been no fresh contact with the terrorists, who are suspected to be linked with Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad. Searches continue across multiple districts, and a mortar shell was safely detonated by Border Security Force personnel in Samba.
