Amidst escalating tensions, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi launched a strident critique of Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar's alleged remarks about altering the Constitution, asserting that the Congress has historically disrespected both the Constitution and BR Ambedkar. He accused former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi of routinely undermining constitutional provisions, contrasting it with BJP's commitment to such values.

Responding to the controversy, Shivakumar vehemently denied allegations of advocating for constitutional changes, accusing the BJP of distorting his words for political gain. Asserting his respect for the Constitution, Shivakumar stated legal action would follow against those spreading misinformation about his remarks.

The issue intensified as discussions arose about the 4 percent Muslim reservation policy, with Shivakumar clarifying that constitutional amendments based on legal precedents are not uncommon. He condemned the BJP for propagating false narratives, arguing that Congress, having introduced the Constitution, comprehends its significance better than anyone.
