Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has issued a scathing criticism of the Congress party for allegedly shielding expelled MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, accused of sexual misconduct, from arrest. Speaking at a press conference, Vijayan described the allegations as horrifying and indicative of a sexual pervert's actions.
The Chief Minister contended that Congress was aware of these accusations long before they became public but chose to present Mamkootathil as a political 'future investment'. He questioned how a party with a legacy like Congress could justify such actions, adding that immediate removal should follow allegations against public figures.
Further, Vijayan addressed the opposition's claims, asserting that the CPI(M) was not protecting anyone involved in the Sabarimala gold loss and that they were satisfied with the ongoing investigation. The issue has sparked wider political tensions, with accusations of illicit relationships between CPI(M) and BJP also brought to light.
