West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee sharply criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah, describing him as 'dangerous' during a rally in Krishnanagar, Nadia district. She warned of a potential sit-in protest if any eligible voter's name is removed from the rolls amid the Special Intensive Revision.
Highlighting her concerns, Banerjee accused the ongoing revision process of being used as a political instrument targeting the 2026 assembly elections. She referred to Shah, comparing him to mythological figures 'Duryodhan' and 'Dushasan', and expressed alarm over potential voter disenfranchisement.
Banerjee further alleged that the Centre aims to mislabel Bengalis and forcibly deport them. She claimed the Election Commission's officers are aligned with the BJP, influencing the process, and indicated that BJP-affiliated observers were interfering in the proceedings.
