Financial Concerns Loom Over Madhya Pradesh's Budget Session

The Budget Session of the Madhya Pradesh assembly is slated to begin on Monday, lasting until March 6, as per official sources. Governor Mangu Bhai Patel will deliver the customary opening address before the Budget for 2026-27 is unveiled on February 18.

According to the assembly secretariat, 3,478 questions, including 1,750 starred and 1,728 unstarred, have been submitted since the session was announced. Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar recently discussed the session's beginning with Governor Patel and reviewed preparations with assembly principal secretary Arvind Sharma.

Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar has expressed concerns over the state's financial management, highlighting a recent borrowing of Rs 5,000 crore by the government. Singhar warns that Madhya Pradesh accounts for 5% of the nation's debt and urges for an accountable economic policy. This session promises critical discussions on the state's fiscal strategy.
