North Korea has announced the opening of a memorial museum dedicated to its soldiers who died fighting alongside Russian forces against Ukraine. The inauguration, attended by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and high-ranking Russian officials, underscores a deepening military alliance between Pyongyang and Moscow.
The museum's opening on Sunday commemorated the one-year anniversary of the operation to repel Ukrainian forces from Russia's Kursk region. While exact numbers remain undisclosed, it's estimated around 15,000 North Korean soldiers were deployed, with about 2,000 reportedly killed in action.
During the ceremony, Kim Jong Un praised the heroism of North Korean soldiers and reiterated support for Russia, highlighting tensions with U.S.-led Western policies. Russia, in turn, expressed readiness to enhance military cooperation with North Korea for the coming years, alongside potential economic aid.
