AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami has made it clear that his party will not support the newly elected Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government, as the Tamil Nadu Assembly undergoes a crucial floor test. Palaniswami claims that attempts to lure AIADMK MLAs with ministerial roles and chairmanship positions have come to the party's notice.
Despite not being an adversarial party, Palaniswami insists that the AIADMK aims to act as a constructive opposition, with its 47 MLAs prepared to vote against the ruling alliance in the Assembly. He highlighted the accomplishments of the AIADMK government from 2011 to 2021, including administrative reorganizations and educational initiatives.
Internal tensions appear within AIADMK ranks, with differing factions emerging. MLA SP Velumani's remarks in the Assembly sparked objections from Edappadi K Palaniswami's supporters, underscoring a split as some members align with MLA CV Shanmugam, who backs the TVK-led majority. Meanwhile, TVK, facing the challenge of a floor test, seems poised to secure its position with significant cross-party support.
