PCB's Formal Protest Over Champions Trophy Snub
The PCB is upset over a perceived snub at the Champions Trophy ceremony where their COO was not invited on stage, despite being the tournament director. They have filed a complaint with the ICC but are unlikely to receive a formal explanation, as protocol dictates which officials are present during presentations.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has expressed dissatisfaction regarding an incident at the Champions Trophy closing ceremony, where the chief operating officer, Sumair Ahmed, was excluded from the final presentation stage despite managing the tournament.
This perceived slight has prompted the PCB to file a formal complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC). However, sources suggest that no formal explanation will be forthcoming due to protocol considerations, which generally restrict stage presence to certain high-ranking officials.
The matter arose after India's victory over New Zealand, during which ICC chairman Jay Shah and BCCI president Roger Binny performed traditional ceremonial roles. The Pakistani side, believing this to be an unfair omission, demands an apology and assurances against future occurrences of this nature.
