The repatriation of Bipin Joshi's body, a Nepali student taken hostage in Gaza, marked a somber return to Kathmandu on Monday as authorities confirmed his arrival.
Joshi's remains were flown from Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv to Nepal's Tribhuvan International Airport, destined for his hometown Bhimdattanagar. Efforts for Joshi's rescue had been made by the Nepal government, although unsuccessfully.
Enrolled in an agriculture program in southern Israel, Joshi was one of 17 Nepali students affected by the Hamas attack. His death was confirmed while his family sought international intervention for his release. Nepal's Prime Minister, during a ceremony, honored Joshi with the national flag.
