Ukraine has raised serious concerns over Russia's management of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant following alleged reports of a significant diesel spill. This plant, under Russian control since the 2022 invasion, has been a point of contention, with both Ukraine and Russia leveling accusations of negligence and threats of nuclear incidents at each other.

Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi revealed that the spill is substantial enough to power the plant's emergency systems for nearly a month. He attributed this issue to Russia's replacement of experienced Ukrainian personnel with Russian staff, labeling it as reckless and inadequate for the plant's safety.

While Ukraine asserts the plant has degraded under Russian control, the Russian Foreign Ministry argues the facility is theirs to manage. The only resolution, according to Ukraine, is the restoration of its operational control to ensure the facility's safety and future energy production.
