Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, during her visit to Vietnam, pledged to intensify economic and energy cooperation between the two nations. This announcement was made following talks with Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, where both leaders emphasized the importance of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

As global tensions and energy prices rise, Takaichi highlighted economic security as a pivotal area for collaboration. Vietnam is particularly seeking Japanese support for oil supplies amid ongoing disruptions. Takaichi underlined the necessity for closer cooperation among ASEAN countries to ensure supply chain stability.

Aligned with Japan's 'Free and Open Indo-Pacific' strategy, the $10 billion Power Asia Initiative was introduced to aid Vietnam in achieving energy independence. Focused on critical minerals and technology, Japan aims to diversify its resources and reduce dependency on China, with Vietnam playing a significant role.
