Amidst rising tensions in Karnataka, Congress MLA and former state minister HK Patil has brought attention to recent measures by the state's Home Minister Priyank Kharge to register the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) formally. Patil emphasized the importance of the new government's stance on this issue, as deliberations are underway.
The move follows Kharge's prior demand for a ban on RSS activities within government properties, citing accusations that the organization uses public educational institutions for indoctrinating youth with religious ideologies. He criticized such practices, arguing that education should focus on lifting students out of poverty rather than on propagated agendas.
Kharge reiterated his stance following the RSS's Chittapur flag march in 2025, advocating for an open discussion on the organization's century-long claims of selfless service. He challenged the RSS to provide transparency and documentation for their Shakhas in Karnataka, urging a shift from covert actions to public discourse.
