The Supreme Court has voiced serious concerns over the handling of a sensitive rape case involving a four-year-old girl in Gurugram, identifying notable lapses by the local police and judiciary. On Monday, the court summoned the Gurugram commissioner of police and the investigating officer to present all probe records related to the shocking incident by March 25.

In a striking move, the court directed that the affidavit submitted by the victim's father, which outlines the 'insensitive' approach of the involved authorities, be shared with the district judge of Gurugram. Notably, the affidavit claims the minor was questioned in the presence of the accused, a significant procedural flaw.

During the hearing, the bench sought responses from the Haryana government and police officials concerning a plea for a CBI or SIT investigation. The handling of the case, including the magistrate's conduct and initial police procedures, was criticized, suggesting an immediate need for revised guidelines for engaging with victims in such cases.
