Ecuador's Stand on Deportations: Noboa's Critique of Maduro
Ecuador's President Daniel Noboa criticized Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro for rejecting flights of Venezuelan migrants deported from the US. Noboa emphasized Ecuador's commitment to accepting its citizens while condemning Maduro's actions as lacking empathy. The situation has been complicated by US sanctions affecting bilateral communications and flights.
Ecuador President Daniel Noboa has publicly announced that his nation will not accept deported migrants of other nationalities, focusing his criticism on Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro for allegedly turning away Venezuelan migrants deported from the US.
Noboa, preparing for a face-off against leftist Luisa Gonzalez in the April 13 elections, expressed that Ecuador will always take back its own citizens from abroad, emphasizing, "we do not abandon our people." He condemned Maduro's refusal as a "complete lack of empathy."
Tensions have escalated after the US government's sanctions affected Venezuelan flight operations. This has been further complicated by Maduro blaming sanctions for these disruptions, despite claiming Venezuela's perseverance against what it calls an "economic war."
