BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai has issued a scathing critique of the Karnataka government, citing its inability to uphold law and order in the wake of the Hampi rape case. Bommai, addressing ANI, underscored the burgeoning tourist influx in the region, accompanied by heightened illegal substance use and a lack of robust security protocols.

"The sheer volume of international tourists sees unchecked drug consumption, with no apparent policing or preventive measures in place," lamented Bommai, a former chief minister of Karnataka. He criticized the Chief Minister for post-incident statements rather than proactive security actions, condemning the government's focus on corruption over public safety.

Meanwhile, Karnataka police have apprehended Saranabasava, the third suspect in the horrific case, as revealed by law enforcement on Monday. Saranabasava, a 27-year-old carpenter, was captured in Chennai and returned to Karnataka. Koppal Superintendent of Police, Ram Arasiddi, detailed ongoing procedural steps, affirming the seriousness with which authorities are treating this grave crime. The original incident involved the alleged rape of two women, one an Israeli national, and the suspicious death of a male companion near the Hampi heritage site.
