In a significant appeal, BJP MLA Ravi Kant from Delhi's Trilokpuri constituency has urged the closure of meat shops in East Delhi during the sacred Chaitra Navratri, commencing March 30. Kant's request, detailed in a letter to the District Magistrate of East District, Shastri Nagar, aims to ensure sanctity and cleanliness during the revered festival.
Kant emphasized in his letter the importance of maintaining the sanctity of the Navratri festival, highlighting that the Hindu community observes these nine days with deep devotion and reverence. He noted that alongside Navratri, the Hindu New Year also begins on March 30, further underlining the significance of these days for the Sanatan Hindu community.
Additionally, Kant mentioned that April 6 marks Lord Ram's birth anniversary, celebrated on the ninth day of Chaitra Navratri, a day venerated by the entire Sanatan community. The festival, which concludes with Rama Navami, involves worship and fasting to honor the nine avatars of Goddess Durga. Hindus observe two prominent Navratris annually, Chaitra and Shardiya, coinciding with seasonal transitions.
