In Bangladesh, a student-led protest has erupted following the departure of former president Abdul Hamid to Thailand for medical treatment. Despite being accused in a murder case, Hamid was allowed to leave, sparking outrage among activists.
The group Students against Discrimination (SAD) has demanded accountability within 24 hours, alleging government complicity in Hamid's exit. Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury vowed to take action against officials who facilitated Hamid's departure without repercussions.
Amidst the unrest, authorities have suspended two police officers and reassigned another for negligence. The incident underscores tensions in Bangladesh's political climate, particularly tied to the deposed Awami League regime.
