In preparation for vote counting on Monday, the Election Commission has ramped up security measures in West Bengal by deploying extra personnel. This includes 165 additional counting observers and 77 special police observers to maintain order.
The counting observers will work alongside the 294 already distributed per constituency, offering additional oversight during this crucial phase of the electoral process. The police observers, while traditionally not involved during vote counts, will monitor and enforce law and order around counting centers.
The two-phase elections for West Bengal's 294 Assembly seats were held on April 23 and April 29, with results expected to be announced on May 4.
